It's still not April Fool's Day, but the news of the weird continues, this time thanks to a company that's on the verge of releasing an air-conditioning and heating unit designed specifically for motorcycles.
Entrosys' A/C unit locks into the top case mounting area, and snaps into a cable connected to the bike's battery. Cooled or heated air is routed into an "air delivery vest" through a tube, and controlled via a small handlebar-mounted wireless remote control unit. Pricing and technical details haven't been released yet, but Entrosys is inexplicably offering 20% off the non-specified retail price for the first 500 pre-orders.
Though it's tempting to pooh-pooh mechanical gizmos that complicate the simple pleasures of riding, I do see one potential benefit from this device: it does encourage the use of safety gear when temperatures become intolerably sweltering.
Do you find this kind of thing dumb, or is an air-conditioned ride appealing?
